Dr. Boogie first gained national attention with his appearance and performance on season one of Bravo's "Shear Genius." Since then, Boogie has been the go-to-hair ‘doctah’ in Hollywood for several decades now. He has beatified the manes of a truly knock 'em dead roster!!!
Known for developing Eve’s hallmark platinum short cut, creating Kimora Lee Simmons’ sexy glam look and defining Lisa Raye’s signature style, while giving Keyshia Cole something she can feel, Dr. Boogie has styled a host of Hollywood's “Glamour Girl” clients. The long list includes Debbie Allen, Raven-Symoné, Taraji P. Henson, Trina, Fantasia, Christina Milian and many other including Rocsi from BET’s 106 & Park, Kym Whitley and Vivica A. Fox. His hairstyles have been seen on national advertising campaigns for Tyra Banks, “America’s Next Top Model,” “The Cheetah Girls,” Luster’s Hair Care Products, the bebe fashion line ads and more. |
Dr. Boogie has been seen on TV dispensing his expert advice on hair for shows including NBC's “Fashion Star, The Grammy Awards, E! and the Style Network. He has appeared on several shows including TV One’s “The Ultimate Merger,” BET’s “Spring Bling Hair and Make Up Show,” BET’s “ My Black Is Beautiful” featuring the Pantene Hair Salon, truTV’s “Hair Jacked” and NBC’s “Fashion Star.” He has also been the lead hair stylist on the set of Debbie Allen’s “The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” for five years now.
Dr. Boogie is more than a trendsetting stylist to the stars. Dating back to when he was a teenager soothing his mother by combing her hair, in many ways, his true calling is helping women (and men) regain their confidence and life by transforming their relationship to their hair. To that end, he's transformed thousands of women to "reclaim their crown and their life." He prides himself on connecting with clients on an emotional level and through that be able to know what went wrong in their hair journey and how, more importantly, to truly and simply fix it. And to do so with a smile and love. As he likes to say, "I'm all about the heart and the humor." |
As a result of his working with ordinary women (and men) all across the country, he co-created and stars in the new ALLBLK series, “My Mane Problem.” “My Mane Problem” will help everyday women to finally and fully overcome their issues. As Boogie likes to say, "I'm humbled and honored that people trusted me with their story and their lives. It was an amazing experience. We all laughed, and cried, and then laughed again, non-stop."
Additional nods for Dr. Boogie include The Jenesse Center honoring him as a “Hope Angel” during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, for his volunteer service of providing self-esteem building makeovers and glamour shot portraits to their clients as gifts; Time Magazine including him in their “Most Influential People in the World” round up; and Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine acknowledging him as one of their ‘go-to’ hair experts. |
To further help his clients and women around the world, he created his exclusive Dr. Boogie's Hair Therapy Program, which assists people in overcoming their hair issues by nourishing and hydrating their often brittle and dry hair.
